Rosh Hashanah Gift Basket Giveaway

apples

**Closed!** Thanks for participating!

Giveaway!  This one is a gift basket filled with apples, pomegranates, honey, and one of those cool honey drizzler thingys.   It comes from Oh Nuts, and is designed for Rosh Hashana, the holiday that Jews eat sweet things to represent a sweet new year.  (It’s going to be 5770!  My how time does fly.)

I promise you can win this if you aren’t a member of the tribe, though; just leave a comment below to enter.  You have until Thursday, September 10.  Good luck!

(Bonus points if you leave me a comment saying what you think my new blog logo should look like.  It needs help.)

P.S. Spreading the word via Twitter etc. is very appreciated!

Oh- and I like the current logo. It is winsome. :)

  2. Is it 5770 already? Wow. It was just 5765 last time I looked.

I LIKE your blog logo! But then again, I don’t think I have bothered changing mine in over a year. I’m a slacker!

  5. Maybe you could change the ‘foliage’ around seasonally? I dunno…I like what you have.

  6. I like the blog logo! Perhaps if you want something new you can approach someone to re-do the logo the way it is now but “slightly different”. I’m not sure that gets what I’m trying to say across.

  8. I LOVE the logo as is as a reader and a friend. If I had to distance myself and get all clinical…perhaps something that tied into both your sideshow logo and your self portrait which (I think) you are currently using on twitter. What is the amber show exactly?
I think of love, homespun goodness, a dash of culinary delight. It’s about your pets, your life story, your surroundings and a compulsion to share your excitement about the things you find with attention to detail and personal quality you appreciate. I think your current logo and self portrait capture much of what I associate with your blog and your subtitle, I think it is indeed “winsome”. Wow, this is tough, and I’m biased, so I’ll have to think on it. Probably not helpful at all.

  10. ohh ohh pick me for the basket! i too like your logo; but i do agree it could do with an update! i see what rob was saying; maybe the font needs to be changed and maybe you could play around with the placement of the dandelion; like the wind was blowing it more. color? anyways we should have a brain storming session over wine!

  11. oh maybe to insert on Nicole’s comment:a hand drawn font; like your own script to make it more about you and personal and you…just throwing out ideas.

  12. Oh, I’m a sucker for pomegranates. And honey. And cute baskets.

On another note: I really like your dandelion. Maybe a bigger, closer one? More poof, less stem? And maybe one big burst of color somehow? That’s all I got.

  14. Honestly, I’ve been quite impressed with your logo from the start. I really like its simplicity and the hand-drawn look that it has. Why do you want to change it? I know a few people have mentioned adding color, but I think that the B&W works well and that adding color would limit what you can do with the color scheme of your blog in the future, in case you ever want to change it.

    Also: fruit + honey = yummmmmmmyyyyy! :)

  15. you know i love your logo : )
when i was designing my blog’s look + feel, i was thinking about yours. i want mine to look as good as yours! It’s clean and easy to navigate.

and the fact that the dandelion looks like your hair from the back is awesome!

to update – my suggestions would be to use a hand drawn font or hand drawn block letters: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1917687 Hahah : )

PICK ME! i love honey drizzler thingys!

  20. Wishing you a sweet year Amber! I really like your current logo- it’s very whimsical. I’d maybe just suggest adding some color and perhaps reduce the size.

  21. I think the logo/header is good – just missing a couple critical elements:

    1) An American flag
    2) A howling wolf (or wolf pack)
    3) A woman in a bikini with a grenade launcher
    4) The lyrics from a verse of a Led Zepplin song

  24. I hope I made it in before the cut-off!

In whatever direction you go with your blog header, I must say that I really love the hand-drawn element. It’s so approachable and sweet. And the dandelion is perfectly random and cute. Can’t wait to see where you go with it!
