Marta over at M. Writes has one of the sweetest spirits I’ve ever come across, and I’ve loved reading her blog these past few years. Her “life motto” is “U be U, I’ll be me.” which is the nice way of saying, “Eff off if you don’t like me, and go do your own thing.” (She doesn’t speak that way, that’s crass old me throwing my spin on it.)
A few weeks ago she challenged herself to blog, for one week, all about her: her creative projects, her thoughts on business, her quotes, photos, dreams and recipes, and she called it “I’ll be me week”. I loved it, and thought about doing something similar for this week or next, but something totally opposite happened in my world: inspiration started oozing out of the blog reader, out of every sweetly decorated shop front on the street, out of every hipster girl in Brooklyn with a cute DIY handbag, and flooding my inbox in the form of reader suggestions and PR pitches that are genuinely exciting. So: It’s U be u week here! I’m going to be posting loads of stuff from other creative people for the rest of this week, and possibly next, because really, I’m not being very interesting at the moment anyway, and everyone else seems to be.
Brace yourself for some awesome, awesome stuff. And thank you, Marta, for the inspiration!
