Life List: Have My Photo Taken with the Eiffel Tower in the Background – Check!
I have not quite mastered the art of standing and having my photo taken without looking awkward. Emily did not quite master the art of focusing my camera, which, admittedly, is pretty complicated. It was raining, and we were tired.
Still. Look! Yay!
And a note: I originally worded this Life List item “… under the Eiffel Tower”, but that’s just dumb, and I realized this as soon as I saw it. There is no magic in standing under the thing; it’s all cheap souvenirs, tacky tourists, pick-pockets and scam artists. Plus, the view is not that great – it just looks like an ugly metal thing you’re standing underneath.
To get that heart-thumping “omg I’m in Paris” view, we headed out to the far end of the Champs de Mars, the big greenspace right next to the Tower that lots of Parisians like to relax in. I suggest you bring a picnic and hang there for the afternoon (if it’s not raining, of course) instead of bothering to get close.
P.S. I took one of Emily, too.
