I’ve made cake batter from scratch and turned it into cupcakes, and I’ve made mix cake with homemade frosting, but I’ve never done the one-two Suzie-homemaker punch of a cake from scratch with frosting from scratch, too.
It was so easy I kind of didn’t want to count this for my Life List, but that’s the beauty of them. You put in tiny things with big things, and so you build an awesome life. It can’t all be skydiving.
The cake is a recipe I found Googling “vanilla cake” and the frosting is my tried-and-true The Damn Frosting which I left undyed, and then I added sprinkles.
Forgive the photo – I was about to serve it up when I realized I needed a picture and thrust my camera into Rob’s hands. It was late, and dark, hence the blurry shot, but damn if it wasn’t totally delicious.
