Monday Music: “Rise” and “Without You” by Eddie Vedder

I’ve been listening to a lot of Eddie Vedder lately, of all things. A friend said, “It sounds like you’re going through a breakup in 1996.” Which might not be entirely inaccurate.

Rebecca once wrote about people feeling stuck at certain ages. I’m clearly stuck in 1996 at age 14, and Eddie Vedder’s voice is soothing to me right now. It always has been, and I imagine that when I am very old, listening to my vintage iPod in a nursing home, it still will be.

Here are two songs by him. The first is from Into the Wild, a movie/book I’d never heard of last Monday, and that the universe has put into my path four times this week, no kidding. I don’t believe in signs, really… but I might have to start.

The second is from Maggie’s Hawaiian Punch! Luau mix, which Daffodil and I listened to a whole bunch of times while I was on Maui. The entire album is stunning.

His voice is like a blanket.

I’m thinking of adding “run my fingers through Eddie Vedder’s hair” to my life list.

    Guuuurl…

“Without You” is such a great song!! I also just came across Natalie Maines covering this on her new album “Mother.” NPR has it streaming on their site right now, so I recommend checking it out for yourself :) http://smarturl.it/NMainesNPR
