Giveaway: Simpli Stamped
Simpli Stamped is a handmade jewelry company founded in Connecticut by Amber Saffo, who helped me celebrate my new middle name by making me this rad necklace. Fun story: when it came in the mail addressed to Amber Hope Marlow it was the first time I’d seen my new name in print!
She would also like to make something for a reader, so check out her website and leave a comment on this post to win an item from her store (up to $55). I’ll pick a random winner on Friday, and heads up for ordering for gifts, it’s about a two week turn around time.
You can pick from her pre-made things or have something custom-made, like I did. Congratulations to Patrice for winning!
What word or phrase would you get on a necklace?

I didn’t comment yesterday, but I was thinking of you! I love the new middle name. I love that you embrace change even when change comes with a little heartache and sorrow, even when change finds you instead of the other way around.
Hope, indeed! I think Amber Hope Marlow is going to do some great things.
If I were to win, I think I’d want my necklace to read “Write on!”

A very close friend of mine, who was battling heart cancer at the time, always used to tell me “Go Big, Or Go Home.” I always think of him when anyone says that phrase, and how much he inspired me to put all of myself into everything I do. I’d love to have that on a piece of jewelry.

I think I’d get a bracelet, not a necklace. And I’d have it say “I am the warrior”
That phrase became my mantra in tired, self-doubting runner hell, and was reinforced when I read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. The main character starts out bumbling and lost, but manages to do a thing that no one else has ever done, and when he looks back at what he’s done, incredulous, he laughs, and thinks, “I am the warrior” because it seems so huge looking back, but at the time, it was a matter of scraping by, step by step.
ps, Is that t-shirt ALSO from the Gap? Because they do not have that color at Target, and I think I need it in my life.
American Apparel Sheer Jersey Short Sleeve Deep V-Neck (In the store they named it a “summer shirt”). Mine is “raspberry”.

Heart. As a reminder to myself to always fight from my heart, and to always think with it, too.

I LOVE this necklace! I think I’d have to smile or my belated mother’s initials, because both would keep me centered.

I’m just catching up on all of your changes. I’m happy and sad for you…at the same time. I love your choice of name and the necklace. Lately, I’ve been having things made with “Live Boldly, Love Truly” on them. Robin Plemmons did some art that is on my dining room wall and I have a stamped bracelet with the same saying. I figure if you can manage to do those two things, you’re good.

First and most importantly: OMG, HOTNESS!! This is a FABULOUS, sexy, fun picture of you and I absolutely love every single thing about it, including the color of your shirt, your adorable curls, how you’re looking away in the distance, your beautiful smile, and the little cleavage peek! <3
Annnddd, if I was going to choose a word to be on a necklace or piece of jewelry, I'd first be quite tempted to get my name. It's not like you can find "Najla" printed on key chains in the tourist stores. My second thought would be "food" because that means so many things to me. I'm a chef, so obviously I love food and to cook, but also soul food and eye candy and snacktivities and comfort food and musical food and…

I love that you changed your middle name and I love that necklace! I’d put 1986 on a necklace. It was the year I moved from MN to GA and the change was so great that completely lost my identity. It would be a reminder to listen to myself and trust myself–which is particularly important so that I can teach my son to do the same as he grows up.

I think I would get ‘Smile’ or ‘Enjoy’ or something cherry like that, though I probably should get ‘filter’ so everything just doesn’t come flying out my mouth like it sometimes does. Congrats on “Hope.” I just caught up on your blog and I had no idea. Hugs to you for moving ever forward to a mighty life.

Mine would also say “hope.” In my quest to become a mommy, my husband and I never lost hope. After 5+ years of waiting and hoping, we have 6 month old twin boys. Yes, “Hope” is exactly what my necklace would say. Thank you for the chance to win a piece of this beautiful jewelry!

First off, I love your new middle name!
I would get “neurotic” from my favorite quote from the Bell Jar: “If neurotic is wanting two mutually exclusive things at one and the same time, then I’m neurotic as hell. I’ll be flying back and forth between one mutually exclusive thing and another for the rest of my days.”
