Poutine
Chez Claudette | 351, rue Laurier Est (coin Drolet) | Montréal QC
Hello, blog, you have been missed.
I’m just back from a quick trip north to Canada where I hit both Montreal and Toronto for Thanksgiving, because Columbus was actually kind of an asshole, and I’d rather celebrate Thanksgiving twice instead.
My souvenirs include $15 worth of Canadian candy that I giggled through declaring at customs to the amusement of NO ONE, because border control officers have no senses of humor (or humour), and a monster cold that makes me want to crawl under my two cozy comforters and sleep for hours. Instead of drooly slumber, though, I immediately started working again with a wedding in New Jersey, because there is no rest for the self-employed. It may sound like I am complaining, but really, I love this shit.
Montreal for me equals poutine. There are famous poutine places in the city, but Eva took me to Chez Claudine, a greasy looking hole in the wall serving what she claimed was some of the best poutine Montreal has to offer. The cute, casually bi-lingual waitress served us a steaming plateful of fries, gravy and cheese that ruined at least a week’s worth of yoga for me. It was totally worth it.
Have you had this stuff? It’s epic.

I am drooling on my keyboard just looking at that, fries and gravy is a comfort food to me and I am dying to try it made by people who know what they are doing!

I love poutine. LOVE. IT. Franklin’s in Philadelphia does it so well that I order it every time I’m there. My friends think its gross-looking and won’t touch it. MORE FOR ME!
