About This Blog
Hello. I am Amber.
I live in Brooklyn with my cute husband, Rob, and our three mutt dogs. My husband is delicious. My dogs are fantastic, and are probably better than yours.
Here is what I look like:
Pretty cute, right?
This blog started in 2004 because I was bored, and it has unexpectedly become one of the most important parts of my life, connecting me with amazing experiences and wonderful friends. It also gives every bad experience an automatic silver-lining: I can blog about it later.
Some background: I had a super-strict homeschooled Protestant Christian upbringing; no TV, no radio. NO UNMARRIED SEX! (That was the big one.) But again with the silver-lining: I am now a member of an elite group of people who can get together and chuckle about how we used to believe the earth is 6000 years old and the bourbon in our glasses would send us straight to hell. Cheers!
My dandelion logo is because I’m always wishing for something more; I’m big on self-improvement and rocking the eff out of life. (And because, if a breeze catches me the right way, my hair looks similar to one.)
In March of 2010 I decided “Enough with the chubby!” and joined Weight Watchers. It was hard to shift my thinking into believing that I was the type of person that could loose weight (“Who am I? Barbie?”), go to meetings (“Aren’t those for bored suburban housewives?!”) and watch what I eat (“I’m too artsy-fartsy for such things!”) But I’m glad I did. I write about my progress every week or two on the Weight Watchers tag. (I’ve currently stopped going to meetings or writing about it, but still do the program, and have lost about 30 pounds thus far.)
What else?
