About This Blog

Welcome to The Amber Show.

I’m a photographer and blogger living in Brooklyn with my dog and my husband.

Here is what I look like:

Pretty cute, right?

This blog started in 2004 because I was bored, and it has unexpectedly become one of the most important parts of my life, connecting me with amazing experiences and wonderful friends. It also gives every bad experience an automatic silver-lining: I can blog about it later. It’s seen me through building a career by way of a few false stopas well as a whole bunch of other stuff.

Some background: I was raised by an abusive, classic narcissist in a super-strict, homeschooled Protestant Christian upbringing; no TV, no secular music, no unmarried sex (ha!)

Because of this, I’ve been highly motivated to achieve excellence, and have contributed a lot of therapy hours and reading hours to this end. Trust me – there’s help out there if you need it.

I’m biracial, and often white-passing, but identify as black.

My life is currently beautiful. My husband Marley and I are ethical humanists, and love traveling, New York City, and hanging out with our amazing group of friends.

You can reach out to theambershow at gmail dot com

I am a wedding photographer in New York City, and also photograph headshots for dating and social media.

    hey amber,

thx for the add on flickr. I’m brand new to using the site so it’s nice to have a “buddy” linking to my photos. I also joined the mission 24 group cause it sounded like fun and will get me shooting more stuff other than dogs!

    peace, dave

I love the name of your blog and your blog design – clean and simple. I'm thinking of a new blog design for my blog. It just got cleaned out all on its own.I almost see a reflection of myself in you.

    Hi Amber,

I’ve been a fan of your podcast for some time and FINALLY made it over here. Wish it hadn’t taken me so long! Love, love, love it! Thank you for sharing so much of yourself; has given me the courage to do the same on many occasions as of late.

Wondering: Is there an RSS button or equivalent on here somewhere? (Or is RSS outdated even? I only speak beginner level tech!)

Hi! I bounced over here from a link from someone’s blog .. I honestly can’t remember. I’m Shannon. Thinking about starting up a blog, I own the domain baconandglitter.com and I might actually do something with it, someday. I also grew up in a super strict (catholic) home, though I went to a (catholic) high school. Very little TV and radio, and all that fun stuff. Born in Québec, Canada. Now living in southern CT.

So Hi! I look forward to reading more of your blog. 🙂
