Israel Darling is from in and around Greensboro, NC. They’re playing at Pianos in Manhattan tonight and Spike Hill in Brooklyn tomorrow. I don’t have the audio from our interview yet, but I wanted to post about it now so you can check out their music and then make plans to go see them. I’ll add the audio to this post when I have it edited down. The music is awesome!
There are more folks in the band, but these are the ones that came to interview today. During our photoshoot, Anna laughed about how they were all wearing plaid!
We recoded at Let ‘Em In Studios (website coming soon: letemin.com), which is an amazing brand new space here in Brooklyn in the Park Slope/Gowanus area. It’s very cozy which I like, and we all felt at home sitting around chatting into the mics. If you’re interested using the studio you can contact Nadim at 718-625-2112. He’s the owner and engineer, so you don’t have to know how to use the equipment, you just bring yourself.
I’m starting something new called “The Amber Show Sessions”* which is where I interview bands and have them play a live acoustic set for the blog. I guess it’ll be a podcast? I’m not sure, It really started because i got approached by a publicist to feature a band that isn’t Brooklyn based on Hey Brooklyn. I really liked their music, so rather than say no, I found a new way to say yes. Hopefully I’ll get a lot of touring musicians that will want to stop by, and maybe have some authors on who are doing book tours, too, or people who are passing through and want to chat.
Number one is coming right up!
*If you think of a better name, let me know. This is kind of lame. I thought of “The Amber Sessions” but then thought to myself, “Hi, you’re branding yourself too hard.”
