Monday Music: Ingrid Michaelson “Parachute”

One of the most epic pieces of troll mail I’ve gotten came recently; it was a scathing diatribe about my – and this is a direct quote – “twee hipster lifestyle”. This woman was so incensed by my Park Slope-dwelling, party-throwing, gin-drinking, dog-owning, photography-career having existence, and my response was a double-filtered Instagram photo of me giving the finger. Ironically. While drinking a Pabst.

For the past two weeks, I’ve been living my life – which involves doing things like sleeping until noon and working until 2 am, having brunch on Tuesdays at 11, popping champagne on Wednesday nights “just cause”, and chasing newly married couples around Manhattan with my camera while getting paid for it – all the while thinking, “Hooray! I’m living my ‘twee hipster lifestyle’!”

Oh, Miss Troll. You are jealous, and I don’t blame you. My life is awesome.

This song is for you. I hope you are happy soon, too.

Must Love Dogs

Today in Park Slope (a charming Brooklyn neighborhood that looks like Sesame Street) two equally scruffy hipster dog walkers met in the middle of an autumn-leaf-and-rain speckled sidewalk. Each of them was walking a sizeable motely crew, and the two groups collided, intertwined, and tangled their leashes all together as everyone sniffed everyone else. The scruffy hipster guy and the scruffy hipster girl tangled together, too, and began laughing as they tried to sort themselves out again. It was exactly like a scene in a mid-90′s romantic comedy.

I hope they fall in love.
