What to Watch While You're Feeling Blue
I recommend watching TV shows on DVD while sick. Movies just don’t do it for me when I’m not feeling good. I started Lost last week while I was down with a cold, and I’m working through it now so I can watch the final season with all you “Lost Heads”, but for this list I’ve picked shows that are only a few seasons long and have been canceled so you can get through them start to finish.
Here are my favorites:
Firefly. One of the coolest shows ever, and one that still has a rabid, cult-like following that is really, really bitter it got canceled unexpectedly. Rob made me watch it once, and I was like, “Mer. I don’t want to watch this dumb show about space.” and he was all, “No, it’s not dumb, it’s really good.” and then I went, “You’re probably JUST SAYING it’s not dumb, but it totally is, I know it, and what do you know? You like professional wrestling.” and then he went, “Just watch one episode.” and I did, and it was not dumb, and then we watched the whole thing in one sitting during a snowstorm and I love it.
Freaks and Geeks. Duh. Best show ever. And little Seth Rogan is the cutest stoner ever.
Wonderfalls. I don’t know why this show hasn’t gotten more attention; it’s sweet and well-written. It was poorly advertised by ABC when it was on which might have killed it. There’s a story arc in it that continues through the whole show and reaches a satisfying conclusion in the finale. I appreciate this. It’s a bit like Dead Like Me (which I tried desperately to like, but just didn’t) meets Pushing Daisies (which I kind of liked). Incidentally, all three of those are written primarily by the same guy, Bryan Fuller. Also, if anyone ever finds a Wax Lion figurine, I’d really love one.
Jericho. This show was one of the few in the history of television to be “saved” and greenlighted for a second season by a fan-led campaign. They sent CBS produces $54,000 worth of peanuts, a reference to a plot point in the show (I’ve also heard it said that a producer quipped in an interview, “Only nuts like this show!”) It worked, and in the second season’s first shot, we see a pile of peanuts that someone is eating. You’ll get halfway through the first episode to see why.
Are there any good ones I forgot or don’t know about?
Happy Summer Goals

Resolved to do this summer:
Blueberry picking with Stu! at her parent’s house.
Making blueberry muffins with said blueberries.
Making blueberry pies with said blueberries.
Getting up early enough to take the dogs to Prospect Park for off-leash hours. (They end at 9 am).
Organize my grandmother’s basement, currently full-to-bursting with most of our worldly goods.
Sewing.
One great big housewarming party.
The Reject List

Can you believe that after all this, I stuck with “Bra”?
